A Spooky October Recap
Movie Nights
For the last installment of the San Mateo Park’s Summer Movie Series, we decided to throw in a fun Halloween twist for our guests. Before Cruella began, you could find CuriO staff dressed in costumes showing off some fun pumpkin science, including a pumpkin carving station, mini pumpkin patch, barfing pumpkins and our popular fog bubble machines.
First Friday
We kicked off our first Friday celebration of the year on October first, which also signified the start of our month-long pumpkin days event. Thanks to the hundreds of friends and family who joined us in person for our Friday event. As we began to see the first glimpse of costumes, our guests danced the night away and enjoyed our hay bale maze, animal ambassador friends and hot food and drinks.
Pumpkin Days
Pumpkin Days, a reincarnation of CuriOdyssey’s previous Autumn Nights event, was an immediate success. We shifted our focus to providing a daytime pumpkin-filled experience for our guests, which included a pumpkin decomposition, bone zone (x-ray observation), zombie plants exhibit and more. The event was so popular, it was actually featured on ABC7 News!
Halloween around CuriO
As you can probably imagine, CuriO staff was in full force for Halloween all month long, not just on Halloween itself. From candy handouts in the store to fun surprise staff costumes, our staff loves to embrace this spooky time of the year, and why not?
Now, we start our final countdown until IlluminOdyssey begins. We are busy behind the scenes trading in pumpkins for Astrobotanicals and preparing for our annual winter light phenomena.
