Tinkering by Twilight: Recap!
Two short weekends ago, Coyote Point Museum staff, board members and volunteers put on a fund raising event called Tinkering by Twilight. It was the first year for an event quite like this one, and a lot of preparation went into making it a success.
The purpose of the event was simple – find an enjoyable way to garner financial support for our science education programs and exhibits at the museum. The event itself was a proven formula – part auction and part gourmet dinner. But we paired those familiar components with unique animal encounters and science- and nature-focused auction items to give the event a fitting Coyote Point Museum touch.
Our hedgehog, ferret and kestrel made a special appearance, and guests had the opportunity to get up close with the animals. Attendees also had the chance to bid on silent auction items, including wine and spa packages, animal habitats, and unique experiences (“Tinkerer for a Day” at the Museum was one of my favorites!). The exciting live auction began just as dinner was served. Up for grabs were items such as a river cruise on the Rhine and tickets to the annual Bridge Concert (congratulations to the winner of the cruise – I had my eye on that one!).
The evening was a tremendous success, and we’re thrilled with the outcome. While we certainly had an inkling of what the event might garner for our programming, we were truly overwhelmed and touched by the sheer generosity of our guests. We’re also extremely lucky to have staff, volunteers and board members who took the time to make the night everything that it was.
Many thanks to everyone who participated – including our fantastic donors and sponsors. We truly couldn’t have done it without your kind support. For additional event photos, take a look here.
