All Things Being Equal – a resounding success!

When you think of math, if you recall long classroom lectures on the chalkboard or entering math equations on your calculator, you’re probably not alone. For some, mathematics has the reputation for being a little dull and very difficult. While math can get a bad rap, it doesn’t have to be relegated to the dull and dusty domain of chalkboards and calculators.

On Sunday, March 23, CuriOdyssey took a step toward dispelling the dull math myth. Not a bored face could be found during All Things Being Equal, CuriOdyssey’s first-ever celebration of math!

The event was wildly successful, with more than 1,000 people attending the event activities. Happy, young visitors bobbed on life-sized see-saws while exploring the concepts of balance and proportionality. Giant Tangrams, a pattern and light table, and a 12-foot tall Probability Machine drew shrieks of awe and excitement.

Drawing shapes with a Spirograph

Visitors got creative and put colored pen to paper to draw vibrant and beautiful roulette curves with Spirograph tools. There was also plenty of examination of angles through origami making – some in the shapes of beloved CuriOdyssey animals!

We’re looking forward to our next celebration of math. Stay tuned to find out when the next one will be coming your way. No calculators needed!
