Announcing Our Reopening on June 3

Dear Friend,

I am thrilled to announce our plan to reopen to the public on Saturday, June 3, approximately 11 weeks after the atmospheric rivers in March forced us to temporarily close our doors. All of our buildings, exhibits, and educational programs are fully restored, including access to our zoo, exhibit concourse, and summer camps! Coyote Point Recreation Area will also resume daily public access in June, with a few restrictions. Read on for more details below.

Once again, I want to thank our many supporters who have lifted our spirits through purchases for our wildlife program, visits to our CuriO on the Go events, and generous donations and memberships. The outpouring of well wishes and the shared excitement for our reopening sustained our connection to our community despite our extended closure. We look forward to seeing you again very soon.

With gratitude,

Aragon Burlingham, Executive Director

Reopening Details: Know Before You Go

Plan your Coyote Point travel and parking

As Coyote Point reopens to the public, you may encounter busy parking lots. Members may use their parking passes in the lots nearest to CuriOdyssey only when visiting CuriOdyssey; parking must be paid for separately when using non-designated lots or when using any other facilities in the Coyote Point Recreation Area. Non-Members will need to purchase a vehicle day pass, which can be used throughout the park.

Although Coyote Point Recreation Area will be open, some trails, picnic areas, and parking lots remain closed due to damaged road and trail surfaces and pending the removal of hazards and fallen trees. As you travel throughout the park, please be mindful of where you are driving and walking, and follow signage for designated travel routes.

Member Preview Days: June 1 and 2

Members will get an early chance to come back to CuriOdyssey on Thursday and Friday, June 1 and 2 between 10am – 5pm for exclusive Member-only preview days before we reopen to the public on Saturday, June 3. Your updated membership card and parking pass have been sent to the primary email contact on record. If you need help with your digital card or have not yet received your updated parking pass, please reach out to [email protected]. Please note that there will be no First Friday Night on June 2, but we look forward to bringing back this event in July.

Minimize wait times with reserved tickets

Although advanced timed ticket reservations will not be required, purchasing your tickets ahead of time will help us monitor capacity and will minimize your wait times at the door. During peak hours, guests with advanced ticket reservations will receive priority entry over walk-up ticket purchases. Note that reserving a ticket does not guarantee a parking spot.

Save the date for our Bay Gallery and Labs opening: Saturday, June 24

On Saturday, June 24, come celebrate CuriOdyssey’s brand new building, the Bay Gallery and Labs, featuring the Gallery’s first exhibition installation, ViewPoint. Filled with newly created exhibits that explore the world around us, ViewPoint encourages us to reflect and enjoy a sense of place at Coyote Point overlooking San Francisco Bay. The celebration kicks off with special Member hours, followed by live entertainment, food, and special hands-on activities and animal encounters throughout the day. Look for more details to come in our June newsletter!
