Celebrating the Contributions of Our Teen Volunteers!

At CuriOdyssey, our mission is to inspire a love for science and curiosity about the world. But did you know we also cultivate the next generation of leaders? This month, we proudly celebrate the contributions of our teen volunteers and interns. Our team includes Leaders in Training (LITs), Leadership Development Program (LDP) participants, Aviary Aides, Watchers, Docents/TWIGs, and special event partners from the National Charity League (NCL) and Young Men’s Service League (YMSL). Their dedication and enthusiasm are so inspiring.

Our LIT and LDP volunteers are the backbone of Camp CuriOdyssey. Throughout the summer, they provide essential support to help our camps run smoothly and ensure young campers have a rich and memorable experience. In return, these teens strengthen their leadership and public speaking skills, gaining confidence that will serve them well in their future endeavors.

Public Programs volunteers play a crucial role in creating a welcoming and inclusive environment for visitors. By interpreting our philosophy on natural scientific phenomena and animal science, or capturing visitors’ feedback, they leave a lasting impression on young visitors and their families. Their ability to engage and educate helps ensure that our visitors return time and again, and share those experiences with friends and family.

The benefits of youth volunteering go beyond the weekly contributions to our museum, camp, and zoo. For many, volunteering at CuriOdyssey is a stepping stone to future college and career success. The skills and experiences gained through volunteering, like leadership, communication, teamwork, and problem-solving are highly valued by colleges and employers. Volunteering encourages a sense of responsibility and civic engagement, both lifelong values that lead to personal growth and well-being.

We deeply appreciate the teen volunteers from YMSL and NCL for your care and dedication. Your contributions have been integral to the success of our programs, and we’re proud of the impact you’ve made on our community. Thank you for being an essential part of our team!

Together, we build a brighter future where science, nature, and community work hand in hand.
