A Special Note of Thanks from our Executive Director, Aragon Burlingham

Six years ago, I walked through the doors of CuriOdyssey with big goals, great enthusiasm, and the deep belief that inspiring curiosity and a love for science can impact the lives of every child. It’s hard to believe how much we’ve accomplished together since then, thanks to your generous support.

Today, I’m writing to share some personal news: I will be stepping down as Executive Director of CuriOdyssey this September. This decision comes after a great deal of reflection, and while saying goodbye to something so meaningful is never easy, I’m confident this is the right time to make space for a change in leadership.

What makes this transition easier is knowing that CuriOdyssey is in excellent hands. Our Board of Directors, led by Chairman Ashish Motivala, has appointed Melissa Felder as Interim Executive Director. Melissa brings tremendous experience, passion for our mission, and a steady hand to guide us during this exciting next chapter. Along with our dedicated and talented staff, Melissa and the board will be steadfast in ensuring continued success for the organization.

Because of your support, the past five years have a been a period of record growth and expansion for CuriOdyssey:

  • We successfully navigated all the complexities of COVID and a three month power outage due to storms, coming out even stronger than before.
  • We launched our campus campaign, including the construction of our beloved Whooosh! physics-in action playground and Bay Gallery & Labs, providing joy and value for so many in our community.
  • Through our ACCESS initiative, we’ve grown the reach of our programs and admissions to include tens of thousands in our community who would otherwise not be able to experience our magic. Today, one of every ten visitors to CuriOdyssey is part of our Museums for All program and more than 30% of education program registrants are scholarship recipients.
  • We expanded and enhanced our exhibits and welcomed new animals to our zoo to inspire a love of science and nature in all visitors.

Thank you for being part of this journey with me. CuriOdyssey will continue to grow and inspire, and I have no doubt you will continue to make extraordinary ideas and big goals possible for children and families who visit.

Sincerely,

Aragon Burlingham
