Something "Curious" Has Arrived!
Many of you have heard by now that Coyote Point Museum has changed its name to CuriOdyssey. We are thrilled, excited, and energized by the name change.
Over the past four years, since nearly closing in 2006, we have made many organizational changes. We’ve added more programs, original exhibits, new animals, and de-installed “The Place Called San Mateo” to make our visitor and program experience truly exceptional. These changes have helped us to clarify what we do – we bring children and families up close with the natural world.
However, the name “Coyote Point Museum” not only did not reflect those changes we made, but has also unfortunately continued to be associated in the community with almost closing. This name change reflects the positive steps that we have already made in our ongoing effort toward revitalization.
So you might wonder – what exactly does the name, “CuriOdyssey” mean? CuriOdyssey is an invented word that we believe reflects the journey a child experiences as he/she explores the natural world. At CuriOdyssey, we provide the tools, environment, and experience for children to engage with the natural world and draw their own conclusions about how the world works. We allow children’s curiosity to take them to a new understanding of the world around them.
So with the name change, we promise that we’ll continue to spark the natural curiosity and imagination of children by providing them the tools to engage with the natural world on an inquisitive journey.
As you’ve probably noticed, we have been closed this week, January 10-14, in order to implement this transition and make a few other cosmetic improvements. In celebration of this exciting change, we are re-opening January 15-17 with a weekend of festivities. To thank the community for your continued support, we are letting everyone in for half-price. In addition, you can get an extra promotional offer by going to www.SomethingCurious.org. Everyone who visits this weekend will receive fun give-aways and the first 100 people on January 15 and 16 will received a special treat.
Even if you can’t make it this weekend, we hope that you’ll stop by soon to help us celebrate this exciting change!
(Please note: Beginning on Saturday, January 15th, you’ll be able to access our new website at www.CuriOdyssey.org)
