Pre/Post Camp Care is included in your camp fees. Pre/Post Camp Care is a supervised, unstructured time for campers.
Each day you must sign your child into camp. Please be sure to check to see if there are any important notes or bulletins pertaining to your child’s camp at the sign in/out table. All campers must be escorted into camp and signed in by their parent/guardian, there is no curbside drop-off.
At the end of each camp day campers MUST be signed out. Children will not be released to anyone other than the individual(s) you designate. Anyone picking up a camper must be prepared to show a photo ID. You can update the Emergency Contact and Pick-up Authorization anytime before your camp begins by contacting us or when you drop off your camper in the morning. Please have the contact’s name and phone number.
Camp sign-out time is:
12:00 noon* for Growing Scientists Campers,

CuriOdyssey is very busy during the summer and parking in the afternoon may not be readily available. Please plan accordingly. There is no stopping or parking in the turnaround.
Camp is a fun, active, and full of individual discovery. Each camp has a “base” at CuriOdyssey where they will meet and do some of their program in addition to taking advantage of the places and spaces in and around CuriOdyssey. Some camps venture off-site on field trips. Here is a suggested list of items to ensure campers are prepared for their camp day.
Campers should wear & bring:
- Layers- including a sweatshirt or jacket for chilly mornings. (Growing scientists should have a change of clothes in case of an accident)
- Closed-toed shoes (please no flip-flops)
Each day campers need:
- No waste snack and/or lunch
- Water in a reusable container
- Any medications
- Bag or backpack to carry belongings
Extra shoes/socks for days where campers go to the marsh or beach
- Mosquito repellent
Campers must provide their own snack/lunch. Campers should have enough appropriate food to nourish their minds and bodies for an active camp day. Camp snack and/lunch times vary depending upon the camp. While we plan for food breaks throughout the camp day, if campers are hungry we try to accommodate them by allowing them to eat some of their food.
Each camp will have a snack time, usually around 10:15 am. For entering Kindergartners, we do a second snack/lunch around 11:45 am. For all day campers an extended lunchtime with some supervised free time occurs around 12:00 noon. A later snack time for all day campers is sometimes scheduled.
When packing your camper’s snack/lunch please avoid unnecessary packaging by using re-usable containers, lunch boxes, thermoses, etc. Over-packaged items, such as juice boxes and single-serving packages, are discouraged. By reducing our solid waste and in alliance with CuriOdyssey’s mission, campers will help reduce waste that goes to landfill.
Once you have registered and payed for your camps all refund/cancellation policies apply. Despite waiting lists, camp spaces are difficult to fill, especially when cancelling close to the camp start date. The park rangers will ask for your current CuriOdyssey membership card AND parking permit. Please have these ready when you enter the park. If you are a current member but do not have a parking permit you can contact membership to get yours. After entering the park, please place your parking permit on your dashboard before entering CuriOdyssey. Vehicles parked without a parking pass are subject to tickets by county park rangers. Members with an expired or invalid membership are subject to the park’s $6 vehicle entrance fee.
Parking can be a challenge for those with afternoon pickups (12:00 noon or 1:00 pm). Please allow enough time for you to find parking and pick-up your camper. There is NO parking or stopping anywhere in the the turn-around area near the museum entrance. Park your car in the parking spaces provided near the Museum.
Part of your registration includes the completion of important “Emergency Contact/Pick-up Authorization” for your camper(s). This instructs us on who can pick up the camper and who to contact in the event of an emergency. Please contact us if you need to update the “Emergency Contact and Pick-up Authorization” information. If any information has changed two weeks prior to camp please let the camp staff know the first day of camp.
The only medications administered to campers will be any that the camper’s parent/guardian and Director of Education have determined prior to camp. A parent or guardian will be contacted via telephone to obtain permission for administration of any other medication if necessary. Minor first aid treatment (band-aids, scrapes, insect bites or stings, etc.) may be provided at the discretion of the certified, trained camp staff.
It’s a drag to be ill during the summer, however we ask that if your child is not feeling well that you keep them home to aid in their recovery. For the health and safety of your camper, other campers, and the staff, Campers who have or had a fever (within the 24 hours prior to coming to camp) will not be allowed in camp.
On rare occasions campers get illnesses, for example head lice, hand-foot-mouth, and/or pink eye that require notification of camp immediately. Campers are welcomed back to camp with a doctor’s note clearing them.
Our program design, of being universally inclusive, is successful with campers of varied learning abilities. Campers with ADD, ADHD, or mild autism have had wonderful success. This success comes from early planning and communication with the camper’s parent/guardian and camp staff. Helping us understand the needs of your camper assists us in creating an experience that is optimal for your child and all campers. Some children benefit from and require the support of an aide. CuriOdyssey is unable to provide personal aides or long term one-on-one assistance, but welcomes collaborating with an aide provided by the camper’s family.
The camper’s parent/guardian will be required to sign a release before any aide is allowed in camp. These arrangements do take time to set-up so we require that parent/guardians contact the Director of Education as soon as possible before the camp season begins to ensure smooth process when your child starts camp.
Jackets, sweaters, lunch boxes, etc. left behind by campers will be kept a few weeks after your child’s camp. Ask any of our staff if you need to check the lost and found for any items. While the camp staff and volunteers make every effort to ensure that, no items are left behind or lost, CuriOdyssey is NOT responsible for any articles that are lost or stolen.
