Summer Camps
Camp CuriOdyssey:
The Superpower of Science
Camp CuriOdyssey provides youth with interactive experiences that spark excitement and ignite curiosity. Campers utilize their natural talents of inquiry, investigation, and individual discovery to develop lifelong critical thinking skills.
Our program is special because:
- We have a profound respect for children as intelligent learners.
- Our group size is small by design to ensure that campers enjoy personal interactions and maximize learning time.
- Engaging camp leaders collaborate with campers to question, examine, and imagine.
- Activities are designed for campers to have a deep exploration of science, engineering and art concepts and processes.
- Camp provides a safe environment for the development of the whole child, cognitively, socially and emotionally.
CAMP CURIODYSSEY INFORMATION NIGHT
Wednesday, June 9, 2021; 5:30pm – 7:00pm
Come to our Camp CuriOdyssey Information Night and get more details about your camp, meet the camp staff, and experience some of the engaging camp activities! Information night is for the whole family.
Camp Themes
Each camp (Junior Keepers, Gadgets & Gizmos, etc.) is scaffold with a curriculum to engage kids in exploration of science/engineering phenomena. This content framework provides a foundation of information for the camper and a launching point for investigating their own question(s). This structure allows campers to have distinctive camp experiences even though some activities may repeat from year to year. Because campers’ interests are different, you have a range of science themes, such as animals, physics, earth systems, nature play and art to choose from.
Camp Grade Groupings
Our camps are designed to be developmentally appropriate for a grade group range to ensure that children get the most out of their camp experience. We group kids by grade for appropriate social/emotional development with their peers and cognitive development with the content. For this reason, we do not combine camp groups or place campers in groups outside of their grade. For summer camp the grouping is for the grade your child will be entering in the fall of the next school year. If you feel your camper has extenuating circumstances and would like to request an exception, please contact the Director of Education, Carl Oosterman.
Pre- and Post-Camp
Pre-camp care is provided for all camps from 8:30-9:00am. Post-camp care is available only for full-day camps from 4:00-5:00pm. CuriOdyssey’s camp fee includes Pre- and post-camp care.
Campers with Special Needs
Our educational philosophy and program design of being universally inclusive has proven successful with campers with varied learning abilities. Campers with ADD, ADHD, or mild autism have had wonderful success. This success comes from early planning and communication with the camper’s parent/guardian and camp staff. If your child has unique learning or behavioral needs, please contact us during early spring so we can discuss the needs of your camper and create an experience that is optimal for your child and all campers. CuriOdyssey is unable to provide personal aides, but welcomes collaborating with an aide your family provides. If your camper’s experience will include the support of an aide in camp, arrangements must be made before May 15th. Call (650) 340-7590 or contact the Director of Education. Only those aides authorized and cleared by the Director of Education will be allowed in camp.
