Saturday S.T.E.A.M. Camp
Does your child love to ask the question “why…," constantly tinker and explore, or make observations about the things seen want to know more? If so, this science, technology, engineering, art, and math (S.T.E.A.M.) Saturday camp is for them. Taking the foundations of our impactful summer camp program, campers directing their own learning, professional educators supporting questioning and discovery, and engaging content, and applying it to a Saturday program for youth who want something fun, educational and engaging to do on the weekends.

Fur for warmth, stinky spray for defense, and big eyes for nocturnal life are several examples of adaptations animals have developed to survive in the wild. This session will investigate the form and function of mammals, reptiles, amphibians, birds, and invertebrates. Participants will see live animals, search for tracks, and explore outside in Coyote Point Park to discover the creatures living in our own backyard. Special activities include providing care and enrichment for some of CuriOdyssey’s amazing animals. This program is the perfect opportunity for kids to stretch their scientific skills in making observations and noticing the world around them.
The “Force” is With You
January 13 – February 10, 2018
We experience energy and motion every day when we drive our car, move a box or drop our keys. In this S.T.E.A.M. camp, students will be exploring the physical science behind the forces of wind and air, fulcrums and levers, and the push and pull of gravity. Youth will engage in specific activities such as creating a catapult, launching rockets, and creating and connecting circuits. A session long project of building a marble run will provide the opportunity for these learners to design, build and test a creation that will go home with them. Let’s get moving to create and discover using the power of the force.
Science in Art
February 24 – April 7, 2018 (No Class 3/10 and 3/31)
CuriOdyssey knows that science and art are linked and that children are natural explorers whose creativity is bound only by their imagination. In this session, campers will uncover various scientific phenomena while exercising their creativity. Children will use the spinning force of a fan to splatter paint, design a sturdy structure out of tree branches, and work with the patterns in nature, all activities that where children observe science through an artistic lens.
April 14 – May 12, 2018
CuriOdyssey helps people explore how the world works and is involved in many efforts to conserve systems that sustain life on this planet. This series of classes helps campers to better understand conservation, identify important conservation needs, and develop solutions to challenges impacting the local environment. Participants will engage in conservation activities such as beach clean-up, marsh restoration and composting. If your child has a passion for nature and science, and wants to be a part of the conservation solution, this Saturday camp is a perfect fit.
