Fun Facts about Banana Slugs

People have been known to eat banana slugs. The indigenous Yurok of the North Coast area would use “the large yellow slug” for food when other food became scarce.

What do Banana Slugs eat?

In the wild, Banana Slugs consume dead plant material, animal excrement, mushrooms, and poison oak. At CuriOdyssey, they are fed leafy greens, vegetables, and fruits.

How long do Banana Slugs live?

In the Wild: 1 to 7 years.
In Captivity: 1 to 7 years.

Where do Banana Slugs live?

Banana Slugs can be found in moist forest areas. Their habitat ranges from Pacific Northwest of the United States.
